Are you the one who loves to be out and go for nice hikes and be in nature? Disconnect from your routine and reconnect with nature stepping out on trails that start within our city limits, or further afield. Let’s give you some tips about where to go!

Okanagan Rail Trail

A former railway track, this spectacular multi-use trail will span 49.5 km, starting in Coldstream and passing through Kekuli Bay Provincial Park.

BX Creek and Falls

On a hot summer’s day, there is nothing better than a cool hike. Dip your toes in a waterfall pool and marvel at your surroundings. Step down into a cool, refreshing canyon of cedars, fir cottonwoods, birch, and fens and follow BC Creek as it cascades downhill. In the winter, this is a great trail to try on snowshoes.

Coldstream Valley Estates

Enjoy any one of the three Grey Canal Trail sections for a quick leg stretch with magnificent panoramic valley scenery or combine all thee for outstanding North Okanagan and Coldstream Valley views.

Silver Star Foothills Trail

Join dog walkers, chatting friends, and joggers on this most popular section of the Grey Canal Trail. Enjoy the rolling hills on this wide, packed first trail loop on an open slope. Visitors driving up Silver Star Road to the trailhead are astounded at the mass of spacious homes with windows for walls and immense balconies all facing the million-dollar views.

Turtle Mountain

While not technically a mountain, you are sure to enjoy this short hike. Walk beside and ancient lava flow wall above Downtown Vernon with and easterly panorama sweeping from Coldstream through Vernon with great views od Middleton Mountain, Silver Star, and Swan lake.

Longacre Trail

Longacre Trail is all about the views: rolling hills and water, cloudscapes, sunsets, or open moonlight night skies. This wide paved 1.7 km (1.06 mi) walkway gently winds along the open hillside above Okanagan Landing subdivisions east of downtown and above The Strand and Paddlewheel Park. It’s a marvelous trail in winter, spring,  or fall.

Middleton Mountain Trails

Predator Ridge Trail

Predator Ridge offers over 35 km of well- maintained multi-use trails, with picnic areas, scenic vistas, and an abundance of natural beauty and many species of plants and wildlife.

Kal Crystal Waters Trail

Kal Crystal Water Trail is located in part in beautiful Kekuli Bay Provincial Park. Running from Vernon’s Okanagan College to Kalamalka Lake, the news sections of this trail, from Bailey Road to the Rail Trail, are now complete.

Grey Canal Historic Trail

The Grey Canal was built by Lord and Lady Aberdeen. In 1905, they began an extensive project to move water from lakes on highlands southeast of Vernon, across the Coldstream Vally and along the benchlands that circle Vernon to Okanagan lake.
